COVID-19; GOMBE STATE TASK FORCE ON COVID-19 ON A TOUR VISIT TO NAFADA, FUNAKAYE AND KWAMI L.G.A FOR AN ADVOCACY
Under the chairmanship of the Hon. Commissioner Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development Hon. Na'omi J. J Awak the subcommittee pay an advocacy visit to religious leaders and women groups in the communities of Nafada, Funakaye and Kwami.
The aims of the tour is to advocate/sensitize the religious leaders and women groups on the impact of Corona Virus, and ways of preventing the spread of the virus in our communities.The important of religious leaders and women groups in the societies can't be overemphasis.
Religious leaders played a vital role in educating their followers. Because of the role played by the religious leaders through the trust exist between the religious leaders and their followers, the subcommittee of the State Task Force on advocacy and sensitization find it vital to incorporate the leaders so as to help the government fight this deadly virus through educating their followers in places of worships.
Dr. Yusuf shed more light on the corona virus, ways of contacting the virus from one person to another, method of prevention, damages cause by the virus and important of isolating the infected persons. Alh. Saleh Danburan called on the religious leaders to support any government effort towards fighting this deadly virus in the State, all the measures taken by the government are in line with the teaching of both religious (Christianity and Islam), Danburan also encouraged both the two faiths to adhered with the precautionary measures stipulated by the profesionals when entering the worship centers (mask up, social distancing and washing hands and administered sanitizers). Hon. Jurara talks centered on the hygiene, taking care of body and environmental sanitation to prevent our selves from contacting any diseases. While speaking, Hon. Briskila Tanko advice women to be supportive agents to their husband during this period of stay at home order,
The Hon. Commissioner Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Na'omi J. Awak who also served as the chairman of the subcommittee called on the women groups to fully participate in educating the younger generation and the societies at large ways of preventing themselves from contacting the virus. Behind any successful man their must be a woman, so women played an imtorpant role for the safety of their families, and the societies at large.
The Hon. Commissioner also called on the participants to support the government effort to fight against this deadly virus. Without any contradiction we all believed religious and women groups have their on part to played to curtail the spread of this virus in our societies. We should all try and follow the precautionary measures stipulated by the specialist. Some of the measures are as follows; Mask Up, regular hands washing, use sanitizer when due, avoid gathering, practice social distancing and so many other measures.
